Power Charged Facilitation™ Meetings are too often viewed by participants as a waste of time. Either there is no set agenda, or the agenda fails to meet the needs of all involved. Participants are guarded in their contributions, either to protect their turf or to avoid antagonizing someone more senior or powerful. Certain individuals dominate the meeting, squelching other opinions and ideas. Participants spend more time and effort in assigning blame instead of accepting responsibility. The discussion veers off track and participants lose focus. As a result of any of these problems, little is accomplished and the meeting ends up sapping productivity. The key to an effective meeting is establishing an appropriate agenda and ground rules upfront, and ensuring that all participants (including the person leading the meeting) stick to them. A neutral, capable facilitator with no decision making authority can help the group effectively manage their discussion and stay on track. By definition, an internal group member inherently has some conflicts and biases, or is perceived as having some; the lack of neutrality limits this person’s ability to effectively lead the discussion. Power Charged Facilitation helps groups interact more effectively, leading to more focused, productive, and useful meetings. We help you establish an effective agenda for the meeting, and make sure that all participants buy into the agenda. Power Charged Facilitation also relies on a set of ground rules based on our proprietary Power Charged™ system of effectiveness. We advance the discussion based on the group’s timeframe and agenda, while allowing enough flexibility to shift the discussion towards critical issues that may surface. We ensure that all participants are fully engaged and have the opportunity to be equally involved throughout the process. We help the group effectively resolve conflicts and problems as they arise. We jointly establish an action plan at the end of each meeting, with concrete follow-up steps and responsibility assignments. And we always maintain strict confidentiality to ensure the privacy of session participants and the meeting’s subject matter. Power Charged Facilitation is appropriate for all types of meetings. The following are some examples of meetings where Power Charged Facilitation is relevant and can result in more effective meetings:
In addition to his experience at Power Charged Consulting®, Vinay Narang has had extensive meeting facilitation experience with Ernst & Young. As part of E&Y’s Center for Strategic Transactions, he facilitated over 60 brainstorming meetings between each client company's CEO, their senior management team, and E&Y Partners. These six-to-eight hour meetings focused on the client company’s corporate strategy, operations, and transactional alternatives. Given his extensive experience as a business advisor and executive, working for companies and clients in many different industries, Mr. Narang is particularly well suited to help our Power Charged Facilitation clients achieve successful meetings.
